It has been found with front load washing machines across the market that towels can be found to be flat and hard to the touch.http://www.inbeeldt.nl/userfiles/bosch-pdo-multi-manual-pdf.xml

The wash quality in a front loader is of a very high standard and the high spin speed can cause the problem. To solve this problem I would suggest a few things: 1. Reduce the amount of detergent in the wash, so for a full load of towels, only use a quarter of a scoop or cap. Overdosing detergent will also cause hard stiff clothes, not just towels. 2. Make sure you use front loading only powder. 3. Reduce the spin speed on the cycle to about 700 - 800 as a higher spin will squash the pile on the towel as they hit the drum. 4. When the towels are taken out of the machine, give them a good shake to fluff up the pile again before you put them on the line. 5. Try not to leave the towels in direct sunlight on the line as this can scorch the fibre and make the towels even harder. 6. If you have a Dryer at home, you can try putting them on a low temperature for a few minutes and that should bring them back to life. These suggestions should improve the quality of the wash for your towels and there should be no need to use fabric softener. If you need any more help, feel free to contact us on 1300 369 744. Is this correct and if not how do I do it. Like Share More 2 answers Len 4 weeks ago Have you read p.21 of the instruction manual. All the program defaults are preset at the factory. Try pressing the corresponding buttons until the required settings are displayed. Pressing and holding the button automatically runs through the the setting values until it reaches the last one. The settings are activated without your confirmation. Press the button once more and you will be able to change the setting values again. Note that the settings will revert back to the factory defaults when the machine is turned off, so don't turn it off until your finished with it. Also see p.24 and the Supplementary loose sheet inserted at the back of the manual. Don't think you can swap one preset default program for another and use the cotton parameters for the auto 40 (target program).http://xn--z92bzy85x.com/userData/board/bosch-pdo-multi-manual.xml Sorry if that's not very helpful. I like using the quick 15minute program, first one on the left. Sometimes I use it twice. That is after the wash I rewash the clothes a second time without any detergents. I can save time that way as I've also increased washing time to 30mins; I don't want to wash for 45mins for e.g. I see that the cotton preset of 1 hour is a bit long. If you want to shorten the time you can activate 'speed perfect' by pushing it then turning the dial to the right, see video at 1 min 55 secs at: Regards, Len Like Report Rext 4 weeks ago Thanks Len but that's not what I'm after. But HN were keen to steer me Away to a more basic Miele. Is the Bosch really that bad. They painted it to be unreliable, with breakdowns on various parts over time, but stated it would last last 8-12 years. I like the features on the Bosch, but don't want a heap of breakdowns, or have to replace it in five years. I was also told it would wash really well the first year, and would then decline, whereas Miele just keeps going. Something to do with the quality of the inner parts. I'm not sure if there's an agenda, or if I should listen up. It's only just over a year old, but it's still going strong and the performance has been terrific. Bosch have a pretty good reputation, especially for their German made gear, so I'd be very surprised if there were any major reliability issues. Having said that, we did opt for the 5ry extended warranted. I know it's not strictly necessary these days under Australian consumer law, but it was cheap, and offered a no-questions-asked replacement or money back option if anything went wrong, including accidental damage. The machine couldn't handle the horrid bore water; it rusted, started leaking, washed poorly, etc. Turned us all off Bosch (and the Bosch dishwasher wasn't great either). They now have a Miele, but I don't which model nor how that one's going (haven't visited much since acquisition). I'd suggest buying the machine you want, preferably at a different store because there is no need to reward a lying salesperson Pushing these is also safer for the salesperson as the customer can't shop around on price. The Bosch i-DOS technology has been available for many years with proven reliability. The Miele kit really is top of the line, and the Bosch is good, but the top of the line kit has had issues. I've been trying to confirm what material the outer drum is on this machine. The below is from a Bosch brochure. Second machine had the poly drum, no problem with the bearings but they could be replaced as the drum could be split as the two halves were screwed together. However the pathetic rectangular felt shock absorbers which failed after 5-6 years had to have their mounting pins drilled out with a 12.8mm drill bit to fit an aftermarket tubular shocker as used on Meile. I realise any appliance can fail but SS drum suspended by 4 springs, 3 shockers and a brushless motor will hopefully stay out of landfill for at least15yrs. I wasn't a fan, the dryer was absolutely useless and the machine did break down a number of times over the years, the service calls were very slow to be arranged.Miele make excellent products but It's hard to see the value in paying double the price? The 7kg machine is ideal size for us as the family has left home so hopefully it's at least 10 years before the motor needs work. Changing the brushes was an easy DIY job on previous Bosch machines I have had and cheap if you source the parts from UK. I went to another store yesterday, they were much more helpful although he insisted there is no cheaper entry level I-Dos from Bosch. He also said the it was a stainless outer on model number way32840au home professional. Hope that helps someone. I know I have seen cheaper models with i-Dos, but it seems like they are revising their range. Hope that helps someone. Shame I'm not in a position to buy right now. I'd have to store it for a few months. It seems that that the Home Professional Bosch machines are the more accurate comparison. Much more comprehensive compared to the website Hoping to bargain one of those down cheaper. My budget has changed too, a small bummer there. (Edited to add, of the two that are the same price, one is German made, the other is not) It was refreshing to hear a Long time salesman that laid it all out on the table regarding the brands and differences in machines, without only pushing Miele. It's disappointing that buying white goods has to be such a fiasco, it never used to be that hard, now in our throwaway society, trying to buy something decent and seeing past the smoke and mirrors is bloody painful. This is a great forum though! Went into HN today planning on purchasing the WAY32480 and the guy was a tool. If he met the gg on price i still wouldn't have purchased from him. He tells me that they aren't made in Germany only with German parts and when i said i spoke with a Bosch rep this morning his reply was merely well you can't believe everything you hear. Absolute tosser. And like others i was pushed towards a Miele or asko. Glad i stuck to my guns and just left. I wondered the exact same thing about if Bosch is ok or not. I have the heatpump dryer from Bosch and i couldn't be happier. I don't understand the negativity in stores about Bosch. It was refreshing to hear a Long time salesman that laid it all out on the table regarding the brands and differences in machines How many salespeople are out servicing the units. Unless it is a return-to-shop type of product, the salesperson most likely has little to none information regarding the reliability as they probably never see the machine again once sold. I was at HN the other week and the guy was fantastic. Went through every single brand with the good and bad points and didn't try and push a single model. He did say he personally owned a Miele, but not once did he try and force the brand. The salesperson was a big fan of Asko due to their design not having a rubber seal around the door frame like every other machine. They use a different seal that is smaller and attaches around the glass door. The reviews on Asko haven't given me much confidence though. The price point of the WAY models really put it in the Miele category and the feature set of the WAY model had me interested. Spins clothes nearly dry at 1600rpm if I want. Has a drum clean function as well, it has further sound insulation added. What is the chance of problems occurring with a poly outer drum. Extremely low. You are much more likely to have something else go wrong with the washer before an issue with the poly outer drum. If you want a Miele washer with a stainless steel outer drum you pay substantially more. Is it worth double the price and will the Miele last twice as long. IMHO no and who knows. I personally would prefer updating my washer every 10 years or so rather than being married to it for possibly 20 years (with no guarantee). At the moment I use powder and a big tub lasts me ages. Haven't bought liquid in ages, so need to price that up. I'd have to agree as when I hand wash in cold water the powder doesn't fully dissolve. I machine wash on cold too, so the difference between liquid and powder now has me curious. The brochure I have.i cant see any plastic, but I won't pretend to know what I'm looking at, do you want a photo. I'm officially lost, and over the misinformation that seems to be out there. It looks stainless to me, but would appreciate some knowledgable eyes? When we first got the machine we had to change the default dispenser settings to dial back the amount of detergent being dispensed because it was initially creating too many suds. Despite the lower amount of detergent being used the washing performance has been outstanding. You have echoed what the salesman also said about that. Not sure why they keep saying its stainless!
