The steering wheel contains the Drivers Side Airbag. This manual didn't cover anything on the diesel engine. As time goes on these manuals are loosing the technical support that we depended on in the past. Here they pay close attention for wetness on the bottom side of the engine as a sign of a leaking fluid. You never know when 18 wheeler will kick up a splash of mud on the automobile windshield. We’ll inspect the drive belt looking for signs of cracking, wear or shredding. Next we’ll move on to the cooling system hoses. The upper radiator hose is usually the easiest one to see. We’re looking for signs of trouble. As an example, swelling, leakage around loose hose clamps or bubbles. If you radiator hoses look like a snake that swallowed a large rodent this becomes a sign to take action before you embark on the scheduled trip. You can increase this level of serenity by performing a few additional services before you hit the road. They utterly failed to mention that it is factually impossible to perform this repair on the 3500 without removing the steering box from its mount on the frame (and it's easier if you take it off the vehicle entirely). They failed to advise that it is important to push the dust sleeve up into the steering box housing before mounting the puller; if you don't do that, the dust sleeve will be demolished. And they provided precious little in the way of directions for removing the steering box in any event. Admittedly, this particular repair is not all that technically challenging, but if you have the savvy to get the box off the vehicle in the first place, the chances are really good that you already know what a pitman arm puller does, and how to use it. And, sometimes, when the procedure is fully described, it will give them the data they need in order to know that this particular job will have them over their head. I should have gone with my instincts, and headed over to the place where I knew I could get the Haynes manual. Those also have their gaps and failings, but they tend to do a better job of actually describing the whole job, and they often provide tips that Chilton's people simply say nothing about.I purchased this manual for DIY work on my 2005 Chevy Express AWD. Very few of the images showing procedures are of the newer vans and it does not cover the AWD system at all. Overall, it is a very basic manual for someone who needs help changing spark plugs and oil. If you are more of an advanced do-it-yourselfer looking for a detailed manual covering any and all of the systems on the van, look elsewhere.
