Mona L 4.0 out of 5 stars In a nutshell, Donna Stone is a housewife who lost her husband. When she finds out that he was a CIA operative and his old boss gives her the opportunity to avenge his death by becoming an assassin, she takes advantage of the opportunity. You can even find a few sexy spots in the book when Donna gets involved with another operative and actually starts to fall for him. While to some the book may seem predictable, I saw it as a fun romp on a rainy day. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and am considering following the series to see where it takes me.Donna and the kids mourn and mostly get on with their lives.http://hilalbaskul.com/images/75-series-land-cruiser-service-manual.pdfHer life dealing with 3 kids and her job, while also navigating the politics of a small community including grown-up Mean Girls gets complicated when her boss assigns another agent to play her husband in order catch the terrorists. Complications ensue, obviously. Donna was a bit of a cipher, especially in her willingness to use her sexuality to entrap Bad Guys while still in most ways being faithful to her dead husband's memory. I did enjoy the conceit that assassination was just another job, and it was important to factor in traffic when timing the jobs so she was not late to pick up the kids. If you care, there was a fair amount of sexual content, as well as some fairly graphic violence. I thought it was a ridiculous but entertaining read. I won't go out of my way to read more at the moment, but may when I need something this light and silly.Quite unique premise, a wife loses her husband who is killed during an undercover op. So of course she chooses to join the under cover agency to seek revenge. Naturally after several years go by she falls in love with another undercover agent who is seeking the same object when guess who arrives on the scene. Her three children are involved and it gets dicey. But through it all, I laughed and enjoyed all the antics. You will too. Recommended to all who seek a fun book with a different twist.I stumbled across this great find in a Fussy Librarian email. The book was free and I liked the synopsis, so I figured: why the hell not. I was not disappointed with the recommendation. This book is filled with romance, suspense, humor, and satire. BUT if you have even one iota of funny in you, then pick up this book and escape the stress of life for a while. I like how Ms. Brown's writing just flows--which, as a writer, I know is hard work. She makes it easy on the reader to follow the story and get so into it that you're rooting for your favorite characters all the way. She also adds in some great suspense and twists and turns. I don't want to say too much about book details because I'll be tempted to write some spoilers. Therefore, I'll end with this: if you need some romance and some funny in your life, along with exciting action, then go and grab a copy of this book TODAY--right NOW!Donna was fine example of what a woman would do FOR the ones she loves and TO the ones she hates. It's hard to write this review because I don't want to give anything away, but I will say this, I will be ordering the next one in the Housewife's series as soon as I hit the submit button. Please check it out if you like twists and turns in a plot with a bonus of real household tips. What a beautifully crafted, skillfully chaotic dervish I was turned as she spun me across HER dance floor, to only blow my mind once more, as she bested me yet again, by revealing a not-so-final finale that left me panting -sated- and begging for more. All the while, inserting amazing helpful how-tos that the everyday wife, mother, Domestic Engineer and resident Goddess would find humorous and useful. YAY for ME!! VS 8AUG18This is a very enjoyable read with just the right amount of graphic violence and sex.The book has a quite raunchy beginning which contrasts with the banal crises of a mother looking out for her children. The idea of an ordinary hard-pressed housewife and mother being a seductive hit woman is quite amusing to begin with, but after a while I began to find it repetitive and somewhat tedious. I was just about to give up when there was an interesting twist about two thirds the way through, which re-engaged me wondering how it would play out. Overall the story line was quite good (although totally unbelievable), but it was a bit too drawn out for my tastes. Also the action towards the end was not very gripping or convincing. Given the number of sequels, there is clearly an audience for this type of book, so don't let me put you off, but in the end it was not really for me.To get revenge on his killers, a terrorist group called The Quorum, she is persuaded to take his place as a government assassin. This is a lightweight read that doesn’t stress the intellect but certainly exercises the smile muscles and it makes a change for the main protagonist to be a feisty woman rather than a muscle bound super hero.I am just as ready as the next man to leave logic at the door as the next person, but some a middle aged house wife becoming one of the CIA's top assassins with a couple of years training and still getting home in time to pick up the kids is stretching it a bit. It is amusing for the most part and does keep up a reasonable pace but our protagonist seems to kill most of her victims or escape more through luck than talent, she is just lucky the bad guys are dumber than she is. Even the housewife's tips are hit and miss, some are quite funny and others you have to wonder why the author bothered. For the whole it's more Miss Fisher rather than Agent Carter but enjoyable. It tells the story of Donna who is a normal mum of 3 married to the love of her life. Unfortunately her husband is killed just as she is giving birth to her 3rd child and it is then that Donna discovers her husband was a secret agent for a branch of the CIA. Unbelievably this organisation decide that they want to recruit Donna as a new agent and she agrees. She then has to juggle being a single mother with killing underworld characters in sometimes quite gory ways. She is trying to find the people responsible for killing her husband and when her agency think they are on to a good lead they bring in a new agent to help with the investigation. He poses as Donna’s husband and everyone believes it including the children. They give off an air of being a normal suburban couple and use this cover to investigate their neighbours. There is quite a sweet romance that grows between Donna and this new agent but just as things seem to be going well a huge shock hits Donna and she is left wondering who she can trust. I got this book as a light read for holiday and it fulfilled that job very well. You could drive a truck through some of the plot holes but it was entertaining with a bit of sex and violence thrown in.There were a lot of 5 star reviews with comments on the book as being fast paced, funny, exciting etc. So I gave it a go. I was not impressed. I found the book to ramble throughout and bordering on soft porn on occasion. The writing was adolescend or perhaps it was written for teenagers and if it was I didn't pick that up in any of the reviews. The language was immature at times and. I guess that I am perhaps too old for this book as I just did not enjoy it. I don't blame the author, it's all me.Page 1 of 1 Start over Page 1 of 1 Previous page Next page.
