But the book isn't just a picture book. It has a lot of useful information in it, including history and practical information (phone numbers, addresses, etc). It is broken down into regions so you can go directly to the pages corresponding to the location you are interested in and see what there is to see in that area. One of the reasons the book is so heavy is that it covers a lot of information. Even smaller towns and smaller tourist attractions are mentioned in this book. The text is easy to read with location names in a bold font. There are decent maps to give you general guidance on directions and major routes. The book's index is also very extensive and easily used. I wouldn't use it to book your hotel (unless your in a pinch). They list hotels and restaurants for each area, but there aren't a ton of listings and they tend to list the expensive places more than the budget options.
